Hello!
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break. The kids seemed very rested and ready to start working their brains!
Reading - We are starting a chapter book called Polar Bears and the Arctic. We will study polar bears, the Arctic Circle, how animals and people survive, and how changes are affecting this region.
Math - We continue to work on multiplication and division. Keep working on the facts with your child. They are given a timing every day and are working on earning a sundae.
Science - Our work with food chains will be studied for 2 weeks.
Spelling - No spelling for Jan. 2 or 3.
Spelling words for the week of January 6 are: polar, bear, Arctic, Arctic Circle, harsh, weather, animals, permafrost, tundra, equator, orbit, Inuit, Eskimos, caribou, parka, dogsled, kayak, and umiak. NOTE: The spelling test will be given on MONDAY, January 13 because my class will be on their field trip Friday, January 10.
Field Trip- January 10, from 9:00 - 2:00. Kids need a sack lunch and appropriate clothing for the day.
Stay warm!
Mrs. Staffileno
